Darin McKeever serves as President & CEO of the William Davidson Foundation, one of Michigan’s largest independent, family foundations. The Foundation is actively honoring and extending Mr. Davidson’s legacy of generosity and contributing to the growth and vitality of Detroit, Israel, and Jewish communities across North America.
Known for building high-performing teams and mission-driven organizations, Darin focuses on helping people realize their passions and potential – a commitment reflected throughout three decades of entrepreneurial leadership in philanthropy and the social sector.
Since joining the William Davidson Foundation in 2015, Darin has advised and guided Mr. Davidson’s family on the direction of their philanthropy, clarified the organization’s mission, values, and grantmaking strategies, and assembled a team of world-class professionals to make purposeful investments and support transformative initiatives across Southeast Michigan, Israel, and the global Jewish community.
Previously, at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Darin built and led an international team that collaborated with policymakers, opinion leaders, and technology platforms to improve the overall effectiveness of philanthropy and charities worldwide. Earlier, Darin co-founded and served as Executive Director of Heads Up, growing it into the largest AmeriCorps program in the Washington DC region and a leading provider of academic and enrichment programs for youth.
Darin writes and speaks widely on philanthropy, leadership, and social innovation, with work appearing in the Chronicle of Philanthropy and Stanford Social Innovation Review. He has served on numerous boards and committees and currently sits on the boards of the Jewish Funders Network, Joe Louis Greenway Partnership, Leading Edge, Detroit Public Theatre, Council of Michigan Foundations, and Detroit Regional Partnership.
Darin earned his A.B. in Social Studies from Harvard College, graduating Phi Beta Kappa, and received his M.P.A. from Harvard Kennedy School as a Catherine B. Reynolds Foundation Fellow in Social Entrepreneurship.
